Mindfulness is a psychological and therapeutic application based on Buddhist meditation techniques. It involves a conscious awareness of present thoughts, feelings and surroundings, allowing people to recognise habitual patterns of their mind and begin to respond in new ways to the challenges of daily life. Mindfulness has been used as a therapy treatment for a number of psychological and medical conditions including stress, anxiety, depression and chronic pain.
